1 Fat is bad

This myth won’t die, but couldn’t be further from the truth, says nutritionist Rosie Millen from Bach Rescue Remedy: ‘Healthy fats (eg omega-3) are called essential fatty acids because the body doesn’t make them - you have to eat them.’ Healthy fatcholesterol and blood pressure under control and helps us absorb certain vitamins, she says. Plus, given that your brain is 70% fat, the quality determines the quality of brain cells: ‘If you eat unhealthy fats (eg hydrogenated trans-fatty acids found in deep-fried foods) it can contribute to inflammation, while consuming healthy fats (eg oily fish, nuts, avocados) helps reduce inflammation.’
