Making my morning coffee and going to set my cup down on the side, I hovered the mug over an array of sharp scalpels, scissors and the carcass of a bright blue kingfisher bird that lay on top of my desk.
And slipping my gloves over my fingers, I had one thought… just another day at the office!
As for the next few hours, skinning was on my agenda – removing the delicate skin of the bird to ensure that I could successfully preserve it in a process known as taxidermy.
