DRINK SPIKING
The Labour Party recently announced they will make the spiking of drinks a specific offence if elected. Every week, there are reports about drink spiking incidents and charities argue it’s totally out of control. A YouGov poll found that one in nine women and one in 17 men say they’ve been the victim of drink spiking.
Currently, there is no single offence that covers spiking. Instead a range of more general offences can potentially be used to prosecute perpetrators, such as the offence of administering a substance with intent.
