Teaching children the gentle art of art for art’s sake

Every year, World Art Day is celebrated on April 15, the birthday of the widely celebrated artist Leonardo da Vinci. This day was first formally celebrated in 2012, and serves as a reminder of the diversity art creates in our daily lives, as well as encouraging bonds between all members of society and the art world.

This year, the theme for World Art Day was, “Art is good for health”, and a great ambassador for this theme is the Grade 3 music recorder teacher from Nokuphila School in Thembisa, Julia Chiroodza.
