Steam takes the top honours but modern traction fights its corner

WITH nameplates Coronationfrom LNWR George the Fifth class 4-4-0 No. 1800/LMS No. 5348 selling for £20,000 and LadyMargaretHall from GWR No. 7911 fetching £12,500, as reported in last month’s issue, steam took the plaudits in Great Central’s live online auction on March 4.

This duo’s success was aided and abetted by from GWR No. 5020 (£9600), from GWR No.from Peppercorn A1 Pacific No. 60152 (£6400).
