BEHIND THE QUILT
IN CELEBRATION OF 100 ISSUES
“I was thrilled and honoured when the wonderful team at Today’s Quilter magazine asked me to design and make a project for their 100th issue. This is such a milestone event, and I am so pleased to be a part of it! I would like to congratulate the team at the magazine for their beautiful monthly publication that we all enjoy so much.
“When I was asked to make a quilt for this special issue, my brain started racing. Appliqué is my great love, so I decided to make a quilt with 100 flowers and 100 leaves. The quilt has four large blocks and there are 25 flowers and leaves in each block to make up the 100. I also wanted to add a bit of piecing; my favourite unit to make is a Flying Goose, so there are 100 of those surrounding the appliqué blocks too. I used my own fabrics, called Westmoreland and produced by Marcus Fabrics, which have a pretty and fresh look, perfect for spring.” – Deirdre Bond-Abel
