Shooting a film with your EOS camera
Canon is synonymous with hybrid EOS cameras that enable you to record cinematic video clips, as well as stills. Things have certainly moved on since the pioneering EOS 5D Mark II though, and technology from the company’s Cinema EOS range of camera for professional cinematographers has trickled down to EOS R mirrorless cameras – and in some cases, moved in the opposite direction.
You don’t have to own an EOS R5, with its 8K RAW recording power, or an EOS R6 Mark II – complete with 4K 60p video and class-leading 1/6-speed slow motion capabilities – to shoot cinematic video clips. A Canon EOS DSLR equipped with a Vari-angle touchscreen, a microphone socket and a bright, large-aperture lens is more than capable of delivering beautiful footage.
