THE production of matched pairs of exhibition zebra finches for the show bench is full of challenges. And yet there is a certain type of fancier who takes the challenge one step further. The colour standard for show birds asks for birds to display an idealdisplayed, although anything between 40-60 per cent is in practice acceptable. As with other exhibition pairs, the cock and hen should mirror each other for size, type and - crucially, in the case of pieds - in markings.
