My husband, Paul, and I both spent time in Brighton in our teens, long before we first met. While we suspected our interests might be a little different now from our younger years, we still wanted to return and see how much the city has changed.
We sat down and compiled a hit list of things to do over a long weekend: walk on the South Downs; visit the Royal Pavilion; explore the cafés and shops of North Laine; take in an art gallery; and eat fish and chips overlooking Brighton Marina (apparently, the largest marina in the UK).
The Caravan and Motorhome Club's Brighton site, a couple of miles outside the town centre, was our home for the weekend.
The campsite was almost full when we arrived, but we managed to find a relatively secluded pitch. We also made a mental note to pop back to the mobile French-style café near the entrance for coffee and pastries one morning.
