NADINE WRITES: I took this photo in the Kruger Park in June 2021. We arrived at the carcass in the tree around 1pm – it was near the Afsaal picnic site. At first the leopard was absent, but other tourists told us they'd seen two leopards feeding earlier that morning, so we decided to hang around.
The other tourists eventually ran out of patience and left. We decided to stick it out. I have always wanted to photograph a leopard in a tree with its kill, and this might have been my chance!
We were rewarded about 40 minutes later. A female leopard arrived and started to eat. It was one of those unforgettable moments that keep you on the edge of your seat! There were only three vehicles at the sighting and we could enjoy it in peace.
My shutter speed was 1/200 second, aperture f6.3 and ISO 400.
