Crypto has certainly had its ups and downs over the years. For example, the price of Bitcoin (arguably the best-known cryptocurrency) hit an all-time high of over $US68,000 in 2021 but lost more than 60 per cent of its value in 2022. At the time of writing, it was on the way up again.

Despite the volatility, our fascination with crypto continues. Almost half (47 per cent) of Aussies are considering investing in cryptocurrencies in 2023, according to research from cryptocurrency platform Luno. Interestingly, that same research found that 71 per cent of Aussies had less than a basic understanding of the crypto market or how to invest.
