2015 AUTO-TRAIL COMANCHE

We bought our first motorhome - a 2008 Auto-Trail Apache 700SE - in 2015 after years of seeing our neighbours driving off in their motorhome and wishing we had the freedom to do that. We then bought a 2015 version of the same model, which we took to Spain, France and southern Ireland.

However, while touring around Wales in 2018, we were at the Three Cliffs Bay site in the Gower when an Auto-Trail Comanche parked up next to us. We were invited in for drinks and I was amazed at the space and the separate bedroom with the island bed.

We visited the Newbury motorhome show a few months later and fell in love with a 2015 four-berth Comanche, who we call Chief - after the graphics of a Comanche chief on the satellite dish - courtesy of the previous owner.

We jokingly say to people that you'll know when you have found your ideal layout, as you stop looking inside all the ‘vans at the motorhome shows.

ON THE TRAIL

With a 3-litre diesel engine and a Comfort-Matic gearbox, it's a real pleasure for both of us to drive. We tend to stick to a relaxed 55mph on motorways, which gives us an average of 27mpg.
