ROLL ON STONES

A 54-YEAR-OLD midlander plans to roller-skate from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise much needed funds for a local charity. And to make his venture more challenging, he’ll be skating all 874 miles of the journey over gravel!

Roller-mad TOBY ‘ROLLER’ BATES got the idea to traverse the length of Britain in aid of charity whilst on his morning skate in the Beeston suburb of Nottingham, where he is a familiar face with locals.

“I cover dozens of miles a. “And it occurred to me that I might as well be doing these all miles for somebody else’s good as well as my own.”
