California braces for winter storms as parts of the northern U.S. recover

Major winter storms continue to hit parts of the U.S. — upending travel, closing roads, and leaving thousands of households in the dark.

Winter storms have been overwhelming most of the country — one region at a time.

Earlier this week, heavy snow walloped a swath of northern states, impacting South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. In the Northeast, saw between 6-12 inches of snow.
