TIPS FOR STRANDED COLOURWORK TENSION

WE LOVE stranded colourwork here at The Knitter. There are few things as satisfying as finishing a beautiful Fair Isle garment or a striking colourwork accessory. Many people are put off trying out colourwork, though, by the dreaded word tension.

Keeping an even tension in stranded colourwork is absolutely vital. Too tight, and the stitches disappear and the fabric puckers; too loose and the stitches blob out and the pattern becomes messy (1).
