I grew up in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, with the Royal National Park as my backyard. My parents were houseproud and had a knack for making small but impactful renovations to our modest 1970s red-brick house, decorating with patterned fabrics, neutral colours, wallpapers and collected objects that made our house a home. I was always drawing and painting to entertain myself, creating cards or something to sell to neighbours, listening to classical music, reading our Funk & Wagnalls encyclopaedias and admiring our garden.
