Autumnal cool is yet to take over so, while there’s still some daytime warmth, now’s the time to prepare for winter and spring harvests by starting cabbage, broad beans, Asian greens, lettuce, rocket, carrots, silverbeet, spring onions and spinach. Other edibles to try now include tatsoi, rocket, broccoli and leeks. Also, add some autumn colour with pollinator magnets like edible cornflowers, calendula, dianthus, pansies, violas, snapdragons, nasturtiums, verbena and marigolds. They should turn your plot into an eye-pleasing hive of industry. If it’s still warm enough, consider starting some herbs
