When I met Loraine in 1972, aged 25, there was an instant connection. We both worked for British Telecom and we were attracted to each other. Loraine was open-minded and kind, and I felt I could tell her anything.
Growing up male in the 1950s, I’d always known that I was different, I just wasn’t sure why. At school, I was more comfortable around girls than boys, and as I got older, I secretly began dressing in women’s clothing and it felt so comfortable. I’d browse women’s clothes shops pretending to be looking for a gift.
