The nervous system

HAVE you ever accidentally touched a flame or hot stove and quickly pulled your hand away before you could even think about it? It’s as if there’s something in your body that protects you from danger.

That “something” is your nervous system that controls your body and makes sure all the different parts of your body can communicate with one another.

This communication happens superfast – and that’s why you pulled your hand away before it got badly burnt.

The nervous system consists of two parts: the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
