he word “sustainability was heard everywhere around the Monaco Yacht Show this year. Everywhere were solutions proposed to make engines, consumption and furniture more sustainable. And this was the topic of the lecture the SYBAss (Superyacht Builders Association) organized with Water Revolution Foundation and Superyacht Life Foundation, right after the opening ceremony. “Sustainability has always been at the heart of the Yacht Show”, says Monaco Yacht Show CEO Gaelle Tallarida, “we keep struggling for a sustainable event, solutions are underway. The Sustainability Hub also highlights sustainable solutions and projects to reduce yacht’s environmental impact, supported by nautical lindustry and Water Revolution Fodation”. “Recreational boating is the only sector of sea industry to count on a no-profit organization for environmental impact. This has dramatical profitable in terms of efficiency, the research results and everything we have worked on are much easier to share”, said Robert van Tol, of Water Revolution Foundation. “If ships simply use the sea to carry goods from A to B, yachting goes beyond, it is our garden. Our organization concentrates on reducing negative impact”. Feadship responsible for research and development, Giedo Loeff, illustrated Feadship’s 15-year long research for a gradual shift to renewable fuel. The Company has drawn out a roadmap to 2030, led by concept yacht “Pure”, and based on alternative fuel like hydrogen and methanol.
