My story

A new-build appealed to me because it was fresh and clean and I like being the first to use everything, whether it's the oven or the bath. This place hadn't even been built when we bought it, so we were able to choose all the fixtures and fittings. Having already lived in a similar property I knew what I wanted: a simple, neutral look that I could personalise with time, especially as Ollie was still a baby.

When we first moved in, I thought the best way to decorate was with bold colours. I wallpapered the living room in teal and gold, painted the master bedroom navy blue and gave Ollie's room a colourful 3D-effect mural. I loved each individual element, but they didn't work as there was no sense of cohesion throughout the house, so I had to rethink.
