WALK THE LINE

There’s a good chance most readers of this magazine have fished with Platypus fishing lines.

For 125 years, Platypus has been producing lines on Australian soil and continues to manufacture and innovate from its home base in Brisbane.

Things were very different in 1898. Horse & cart, steam trains, and ships, were the dominant form of transport and Australia was yet to become a federation. And a lot has happened since; two world wars, the invention of television, automobiles, planes, and more recently, the internet.

Over that time, this Aussie-based company evolved and handed down its business through several generations.

Surviving in business over that time is no mean feat. So where did it all start?
