After a three-year Covid shutdown the long standing, prestigious HIBT is up and running again. Teams from across the world entered this year to what turned out to be a very close and exciting 5-day tournament.
THE BEGINNING
In 1955 a young American guy by the name of Peter Fithian from Georgia arrived on the Big Island of Hawaii after applying for a position as manager at the historic Kona Inn. With experience in hotel management he soon landed the job and it didn’t take him long to settle into his new tropical surroundings. One of the first things that grabbed his attention was the constant stream of large marlin and tuna getting weighed on one of hotels palm trees in the waterfront yard.
