Ambulances stacked up, patients on trolleys in corridors waiting to be treated and staff working to the point of exhaustion. These are the now-familiar images surrounding emergency departments. In October 2022, a record number (45.2%) of A&E patients were waiting for more than four hours to be seen. And the staffing crisis and working conditions have led to our vital nurses and ambulance staff voting to strike.
