It is my birthday, April 2021, and a delightfully weighty parcel is handed to me by the postman. I cradle it with eager anticipation. Upon opening, I discover a book that will eventually transform my entire perspective of myself. It is hear it in this context is like hearing the word for the first time. I read more and hear a multitude of butch voices describe themselves as strong and soft, practical and sexy, brave and vulnerable.
