Firstly, EICMA is big. No. Huge, with a capital HU. Stan had warned me to take a pair of well run-in hiking boots; I am now fully aware he wasn’t joking. I didn’t take his advice and with 16k steps a day for three days I paid the price. From the entrance, the walkway up to the halls alone is a trek of about 1.1km.
But it was well worth it. The whole world of virtually anything motorised on two wheels is here, and more besides. I can wholeheartedly report back that the state of scootering variations by the big players is a hell of a lot healthier than had been my impression in Cologne. Royal Alloy didn’t have a stand in Milan purely for logistical reasons; the company is still in talks to establish a distributor within Italy and without having someone local on the ground, it’s a bloody nightmare to get anything organised.
