N ESSENTIAL part of the Hogmanay celebration for many hundreds of fanciers in Scotland is a visit to the famous Scottish National Exhibition which includes the British Open Championship competition, and each year dozens of their colleagues from south of the border and from Ireland join them in an atmosphere of keen rivalry and friendliness.
