She came to England in 1961. She holds a PhD from the University of Durham, LLB (Hon) from the Open University, a Master in Education and a Bachelor of Education (Hon) from the Victoria University of Manchester, along with a Registered General Nurse, Midwifery, and Teaching qualifications. She is a Fellow of the Florence Nightingale Foundation and a former Magistrate.
Dr Jolly has travelled extensively around the world and has a wide interest in writing and photography. She devotes her leisure time to reading, caring for pet cats and is a cricket enthusiast. She presently lives in the leafy Brockhall Village in the heart of Lancashire.
