The Mountain, as the locals fondly call Magoebaskloof, has been transformed from a rural backwater into a picturesque destination.
Haenertsburg is the quaint heart of Magoebaskloof, containing a few hundred houses. The main street in the village – yes, there’s only one – features a handful of restaurants and pubs, galleries, gift shops and a fantastic second-hand bookshop. Beyond the village there are plenty of attractions, whether you’re into adrenaline-pumping outdoor stuff or just an eat-read-chill weekend.
