Lowriders appear odd to the uninitiated, there’s an emphasis on looks and showmanship beyond the point of practicality with over-the-top paint and stunning interiors. The sheer amount of work involved means few have been built in the UK; you need skill and an artistic eye. “I’ve always been into cars,” explains Maxime, “my dad George Cox worked for Harold Radford Coachbuilders constructing Peter Sellers’ Minis and even did cars for royalty, meaning I got taken to motor shows and met people such as Pininfarina.
