Of all the puzzle types that exist, perhaps none is as universally beloved as the jigsaw puzzle. It is, after all, the only one that is frequently referred to simply as “puzzle,” similar to the way Eminem, Lizzo, and Socrates are known by a single name.
Over the course of a weekend this past October, jigsaw enthusiasts converged to match their puzzle-solving skills against the country’s best. These speed puzzlers competed individually, in pairs, and in teams at the USA Jigsaw Nationals 2022. The event was organized by the USA Jigsaw Puzzle Association (USAJPA), and in affiliation with the World Jigsaw Puzzle Federation.
