One of the most heart-wrenching scenes in the 2003 rom-com is the moment Emma’s character Karen discovers her husband (played by the late Alan Rickman) is cheating on her and goes into the bedroom to cry as Joni Mitchell’s ‘Both Sides Now’ plays. And it turns out the actress, 63, had some personal experience to pull from.

Emma’s six-year marriage to Kenneth co-star Helena Bonham Carter. Making the betrayal even crueller, Emma and Helena had played sisters in only a few years before.
