WELL, we managed to stage the annual Morpeth open show! Admittedly, the announcement about the increased restrictions for flocks of birds because of the bird-flu epidemic did cause some doubts for a while.

I had already informed the Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA) and had received confirmation that our event complied with the conditions of the General Licence. So it was a matter of simply waiting and hoping that an instruction not to proceed did not materialise.

There was a lot riding on this show. It was the first to be held in the new venue and also there was new staging to be used for the first time. For obvious reasons we were keen to see how this worked out and were
