n the comics, Namor the Sub-Mariner is known for ruling Atlantis, the underwater city of Greek myth. The film version of Namor was inspired by the history of Mesoamerica, and (dated October 1939), the first comic book from Timely Comics – the 1930s-40s predecessor of Marvel Comics! Namor was one of the top three characters at Timely Comics, with Captain America and the original Human Torch. Namor is also known for being a (drumroll please)… mutant! Yep, Namor is even called ‘Marvel’s first mutant’ as he was the first introduced in comics – no big deal!
