As a man whose career has taken him away from home a lot, family time has always been precious to TV presenter Jonnie Irwin.

But larking around at our location in Northumberland on HELLO!’s exclusive photoshoot with sons Rex, three, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac, his adored children with wife Jessica, 40, is a moment that now holds extra-special resonance.

In August 2020, two months after the birth of the twins, the 48-year-old Escape to the Country host found out he had lung cancer. Worse, it had spread to his brain. He was given six months to live.

Today, while treatment has bought him extra time, Jonnie is all too aware that each treasured milestone might be his last.

Until now, the star has chosen to keep his terminal diagnosis private. But he has decided the time has come to be open about it, giving his only interview to in a bid to get “the monkey off my back” and inspire others faced with life-limiting
