“It’s that time of year again, as late autumn begins its inexorable metamorphosis into winter. For some, readers in the first group. Of course, this is still (just about) bulb-planting time, and I was out recently replanting my tulips – the daffs and other bulbs are already in. There is something very satisfying about planting the same bulb again. It may just be a process to some, but it feels more like a relationship when you first plant them, then take them out, then carefully store them, then put them back. And I wonder if they will rise again, or will they go blind? You need patience and faith to be a gardener, but when success comes it’s the best feeling.”
