THUMBPRINT COOKIES

Makes 36 cookies Total Time: 1 hour, plus 20 minutes cooling

Any seedless jam can be used here, but raspberry is the most traditional. If you don’t have a rounded teaspoon, you can use a small melon baller.

2¼ cups (11¼ ounces) all-purpose flour
¾ teaspoon table salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon baking powder
12 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
⅔ cup (4⅔ ounces) sugar, plus ⅓ cup for rolling
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 large egg
1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup seedless jam or Meyer
