Scrap prices to drop?

Is the scrap metal price about to nosedive after the recent record highs? Several knowledgeable commentators seem to think it might due to, among other things, an over-supply coupled to reduced demand from manufacturing. But having said that, a drop has been predicted before, but hasn’t happened, and even if it does go down, I really can’t see any return to the bad old days when yards were charging people to take scrap cars in, even if they were driven to the gate! Which, of course led to many scrap cars being dumped at the roadside.

But having said that, I actually think a 50% drop would benefit the used car trade long-term because, quite simply, the current market in which pretty-much anything bigger than a supermini seems to be worth upwards of £400, is
