It's a good idea to try your ideas out on test tiles first, so you learn how much underglaze to load, and how to manipulate the paper or block without it moving. To see how they'll look, you can glaze and fire them them with relative ease, fitting them into the kiln around other pieces if firing to the same temperature.
We strongly recommend that you practice this technique on tile samples, to begin with. Have a good play to see what combinations of surfaces you can create. The possibilities are endless and so can’t all be covered here, but we’ll give you enough practical advice to get you started.
