What’s it really like swiping right when melanated?

I have a very love-hate relationship with dating apps.Yes, I did once match with my dream gal, which was followed by an instant connection and long phone calls. It didn’t work out because – you guessed it – she lived 400 miles away and we were two broke queers unable to commute. Over my time on Tinder I managed to land one enjoyable date, experienced a few flirty exchanges and formed some friendships which still remain to this day. But other than those exceptions, as a Black mixed-race queer person, my experiences were boring at best and deeply uncomfortable at worst, resulting in me always deleting the app “for good”.
