ALL SET FOR A NEW JOURNEY

Thighly anticipated 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) opened in Beijing on October 16.

Held once every five years, the congress is a major event in the political life of the Party and the country. At a study session of provincial and ministerial-level officials in July, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, highlighted the importance of the congress, and said it is being held at a crucial moment in the new journey to build a modern socialist country in all respects.

He said goals, tasks and policies for the cause of the Party and the country for the next five years and beyond will be set at the meeting.
