APPLE-SAUSAGE CORNBREAD DRESSING

Makes 10 to 12 servings

Crisp, sweet apple complements the savory sausage and aromatics in this easy side.

1 (16-ounce) package ground pork sausage
1 cup diced yellow onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
1 (32-ounce) carton chicken broth
2 large eggs
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
5 cups cubed day-old white bread
5 cups cubed day-old cornbread
1 large Honeycrisp apple, chopped
Garnish: fresh parsley, fresh sage

1. Preheat oven to 350°.

2. Heat a 12-inch cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage, onion, garlic, and sage; cook, stirring frequently, until sausage is browned and crumbly and vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.
