After 60 years, the Trans Bhutan Trail is reopening. Stretching 250 miles across the mountainous country, following the path of the ancient Silk Road, the trail connects 400 cultural and historical sites. When roads were built in the 1950s, the walking route fell into disrepair. But in 2018, with help from the Bhutan Canada Foundation, funding helped restore 18 bridges and 10,000 stairs on the route, employing hundreds of local workers during the pandemic.
