had been battling bitterly cold rain for nearly two hours as I headed south towards Walcha on a freezing winter’s day. Despite the tough times, I was feeling chipper. Through what I thought was masterful ingenuity I had solved a painful problem. Who would have thought that week-old socks, rummaged out of my gear bag and stuffed into my open motocross helmet, would stop the pain of the rain drops hitting my lips and cheeks? Brilliant!
