On their first visit to Wales since taking on their new titles, the Prince and Princess of Wales returned to a place close to their hearts. The royal couple began their visit in the north in Anglesey, where they first lived as newlyweds in 2011 and where Prince George spent the first months of his life.
“It’s nice coming back to Wales because it’s where we lived and had our family. It’s been a really special day,” said Kate.
She also shared a sweet anecdote about her children with a well-wisher who was holding up a novelty flag printed with her and Prince William’s engagement photograph from 2010.
“Oh my goodness, is that from our engagement?” she asked. “You know we’ve been married for 11 years and we’ve been together double that, so it’s extraordinary. Our children look back at photos and are like: ‘Mummy you look so young!’”
Members of the public had gathered to greet the royal visitors
