◼ DMC Natura Just Cotton (100% cotton, 50g/155m), 2 balls of Tournesol (N16)
◼ A 3mm (US C/2 or D/3) hook
◼ A scrap of yellow fabric (such as a large old T-shirt)
◼ Any scrap black DK
◼ Stitch markers
◼ Foam board 50x25cm

TENSION

Tension is not critical for this project, but it may affect the yarn quantities required

MEASUREMENTS

Bag measures approx 20cm (7¾in) in diameter

NOTES

Bag is worked in a continuous spiral without closing off each round with a slip stitch. You may find it helpful to mark the first stitch of the round, moving it up as you go.

BACK

Using Tournesol, make a magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch1 (does not count as a st throughout), 8dc in loop. [8dc]

Round 2 2htr in each dc around. [16 htr]

Round 3 (1htr, 2htr in next st) 8 times. [24 htr]

Round 4 (2htr, 2htr in next st) 8 times. [32 htr]

Round 5 (3htr, 2htr in next st) 8 times. [40 htr]

Round 6 (3htr, 2htr in next st) 10 times. [50 htr]

Round 7 (4htr, 2htr in next st) 10 times. [60 htr]

Round 8 (4htr, 2htr in next st) 12 times. [72 htr]

Round 9 (5htr, 2htr in next st) 12 times. [84 htr]

Round 10 (5htr, 2htr in next st) 14 times. [98 htr]

Round 11 (6htr, 2htr in next st) 14 times. [112 htr]

Round 12 (6htr, 2htr in next st) 16 times. [128 htr]

Fasten off.

Use the Back to cut 2 circles from the foam board.

From the fabric, cut 2 circles, approx 1.5cm larger in diameter than the foam circle, and cut 3 strips, approx 123x6cm each.

Place the foam between the circle of fabric and the Back, so that the RS of the Back is facing out. Fold down the excess fabric and sew to the Back.

FRONT AND SIDES

Make as Back. When you reach the end of Round 17 do not fasten off; instead, place the live loop on a marker.

Using the rem foam circle and fabric circle, sew together as for Back.

BAG SIDES

Cont on from Front.

Round 18 Htr in bl of each st around. [174 sts]

Rounds 19-23 Htr in each st around.

Round 24 Working through sts on Front and Back to join, ss in next 136 sts, working through sts on Front only: *ss in next 13 sts, ch8, ss in st at base of ch-8 (button loop made); rep from * once more, ss in final 12 ss, ss in beg ss.

Fasten off.

BUTTONS (MAKE 2)

Using Tournesol, make a magic loop.

Round 1 (RS) Ch1, 6dc in loop, ss to beg dc. [6 dc]

Fasten off leaving a 20cm tail.

EYES (MAKE 2)

Using black yarn, ch11.

Dc from second ch from hook and in next 8 ch, 3dc in final ch, turn to work
