Compare BBC with Amazon Prime? No contest

You simply can’t compare the BBC with Amazon Prime, as Gary Walsh carelessly does in Issue 640. One is a national institution that, despite its faults, is woven into the fabric of our society. The other is a money-grabbing, tax-avoiding goliath that sucks up our high streets like a retail equivalent of a black hole. Like Gary, I’m fortunate that I can afford both the TV licence fee and Amazon Prime. But unlike Gary, I would keep the Beeb over Amazon if I were forced to choose. Look at it this way – when news about our Queen’s passing was coming through, people didn’t turn to Amazon Prime for confirmation and comfort.
