THE queen’s almost constant companion for most of her adult life was one of her many famous Launer handbags, which adorned her left arm at almost all times – including at home in Buckingham Palace.
She had more than 200 bespoke bags in all colours of the rainbow, each one stored in its own cupboard.
A HANDY GIFT
The Queen Mother was the first royal to buy a Launer bag in the 1950s. The Launer company had been founded the previous decade by designer Sam Launer, who fled Czechoslovakia to the United Kingdom with his family during World War 2.
