    The proliferation of smart devices has now reached gun safes. Pineworld’s new K5 pistol safe is packed with technology, including a fingerprint reader, passcodes, Wi-Fi, and app integration. It even talks to you.

    The 16-pound K5 is unusually stout, with 10-gauge steel all around — many other pistol safes are thinner. However, there’s plastic trim on the sides; more on this later. The interior is lined with excellent high-density foam, and it comes with a security cable (though you should permanently bolt it down).
