I’m afraid this instalment of Behind the Wheel is more about being behind the wheel in the US, where I went on holiday in August for the first time in four years because of you know what. The trip had originally been scheduled for 2020, but was cancelled twice, this summer being the first time it was possible to travel stateside in almost two years. Sadly, the Cadillac I had ordered as a rental turned into an Audi A5 and the lady on the rental desk was perplexed by my apparent ingratitude – “This is a far superior car!” she said primly as I demanded to know where the Cadillac was that I ordered…

And in a nutshell, that pretty much sums up the roads in America now. American car builders
